Eurorack Modular Planner |

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know about a web application I've made to plan out your Eurorack modular systems in a Flash based environment.
It's called the Mega Modular Planner
There are 2 versions. Standard 12U for 1280 x 1024 resolutions and a 1920 x 1200 "monster" version (to fit a Doepfer Monster case).
You will notice when you first view it that not all manufacturers are available, this is because I'm waiting for module graphics from them.
Manufacturers available at the moment are:
Doepfer
Plan B
Cwejman
Analogue Solutions
Analogue Systems
I welcome feedback especially if you find any little bugs. Feature wise its pretty final as I've spent the last 3 months solidly on it and need a break
Have fun.

Andy.
Funny, several years ago I was bored for a few months and ended up with a Doepfer planner then. Not nearly as nice as yours and not with a web interface but it did calculate price and mili amps ... I then decided that I'd better buy a Clavia Nord Modular
It seems pretty complete, with rack cases and all, looks good! _________________ Jan

Nice. Last spring I sketched out a plan to make such a thing. I was going to make it open ended such that users could enter dimensions for a format (e.g. for MOTM or Frac Rack or whatever) and upload images of front panels. The images would be resized if needed.
Really, it's all the same logic with different numbers for size so a database with the dimensions lets the same code handle any format. I was keen on having it so that people could easily contribute the dimensions and images and eventually it would become quite complete.
You'd be able to mix formats in the same display so you could have a couple Euroracks next to a couple Frac racks with a Modcan on top or whatever. Of course I never did anything about this whereas you actually did! |

Thanks for checking it out.
I've been attempting to do this for the last year, but never had the skills really if anything, so basically I've taught myself as I went along. Theres a lot of things I'd like to put in but its too complex at the moment, like saving layouts for patches and collision detection, this will have to do for now.
I might do frac rack and 5HE modular version in the future if the demand is there. _________________ Eurorack Modular Planner |

........, to much mili amps i assume
thanks Andi for that planner
some suggestions if you like to expand it for DIYers needs:
it would be cool to have blindpanels in all sizes ( in 2TE increments + 1TE blindpanel ) . e.g. for DIYers
to perfect it out you could maybe make the case size selectable:
___how many rows
__ how width
my system is for example 1 meter in width with proma rails.
there are some people who has built with that size.
a planning just width blindpanles to count TEs would make sense, i think.
I would not need fotorealistic Modullayouts for myself ( and my DIY stuff )
And with all sizes of blinpanels one can plan allready with all those modules you have no graphics for .
maybe you could add a name field into blindpanels
don't take it as critics please ! |

Hi,
yeah you have the 2HP doepfer blind panel but no 1HP. I was trying to only implement panels and modules that are actually sold by the companies represented so things could be priced up.
adding a 1HP panel is no probem I could probably squeeze it in somewhere at a later date.
Custom width cases are another thing though, that would be a complete reworking of the entire planner and after spending 4+months creating this application for free, to cater for custom sized cases delves into the realm of having to pay for it I'm afraid. _________________ Eurorack Modular Planner |

Update to planners:
Planner now has the following features
-- Automatic Save/Load of Layout via Flash Shared Object (cookies) stored on your system.
-- All modules graphics now have either their graphic or a labels blank panel, so all are usable now. A lot more pictures now.
-- Click a module and press the Delete key to remove modules.
-- Colour scheme change, sorry I cant help myself from fiddling.
-- Clear button now removes all modules from racks, beware this also resets your cookie.
-- Inline contact form.
Project is now getting exponentially more complex so if you find any bugs, pop me a message with the form. Known issue is that case size is not yet saved in the cookie information. _________________ Eurorack Modular Planner |
