I'm looking for a sampler class to use in ChucK -- something like the SndBuf class but with cut, res, adsr env, repeat, pitch, shift, noise mix, et c. Have I overlooked something in the standard library? If not, has anyone written a similar class? Thanks.

please check LiSa: http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/doc/program/ugen_full.html#LiSa

are those all the features you want?
or you want to do those kind of things with a loaded sound sample like in the SndBuf way?

For cutoff, resonance, noise, it's quite easier to implement from out of LiSa.

but anyway your idea is cool.
if there're a quite-general class like that, it'd be fun also.

Funny you two brought up SndBuf and LiSa, I just posted to the modular synthesis forum about Synth Lab asking for suggestions, and the first suggestion was to add some capability to work with samples. I am pretty much done with the main coding and taking a break right now, but I will soon add the next features to Synth Lab, and why not do something with samples?

I can make both a SndBuf and a LiSa module for Synth Lab, then you can use all of the synth features in conjunction with the samples. I think LiSa would be the easiest to add first. It's more complex, but it doesnt have string variable inputs like the "path/filename" of SndBuff. ChucK currently does not have text input capabilities in MAUI. Plus I glanced at your link to the LiSa ugen description and pretty much every method described is doable with buttons and sliders.

So, no promises on when, but next perhaps I should add a LiSa panel to Synth Lab, and then after that a SndBuf panel. I also still need to add some of the synth-like modules like Echo, Chourus, etc., but I'm uncertain as to how to set the slider limits. They are not always documented on the ugen page. Oh well, I'll get to it, there's not much CPU burden right now so I can continue to expand it.

Note: Synth Lab currently only runs on Macs, they are porting MAUI to PC and Linux currently.
