I think that if you posted this at the DIY forum on Muffwiggler forum people would be jumping in joy and clamoring for a PCB+Chip run.

Maybe . . .
But it was a post aimed at people who have
already bult the project, who might be interested
in updating the firmware.

Had a look at the Muff forum, it does
appear more active than over here.

Cheers

Ryk,

The 2.0 and 2.1 revisions required a slightly different panel -

Is the software update applicable to both earlier revisions?

ps.

(if anyone is interested)

i think i still have a couple of 5u m185 panels on the shelves... not sure though.

Hello

The new software is compatible with a 2.1 panel.
IE it has the same panel functions, the new split
mode is enabled by a "long push" of the RESET button

Hi Ryk,

Do you have a walk thru on how to use that new firmware?

I tried the long press on the reset button but then the seq stays in step one, how do you set the numbers of repeats and the step at which it cuts the sequence?

Thanks,

X

Ops sorry, need to update the manual.

SPLIT MODE

Long press on RESET until the LEDS stop flashing
to enter SPLIT MODE setting.

Select 1 - 8 for the split point of the sequence
then press RESET

Select 1 - 8 for the amount of repeats for first
half of sequence, then press RESET.

Select 1 - 8 for the amount of repeats for second
half of sequence, then press RESET to return to sequence
mode.

NB selecting 1,1,1 effectively creates no split.

EXAMPLE
If you want the sequence to play STAGES 1 - 4
three times, and then play STAGES 5 - 8 once.
Then you would set 5,3,1 respectively.

Hope it makes sense.

Festive Cheers

I would definitely buy two more PCBs and two more PICs if another run of them happens!

Without question, my M185 is my favorite sequencer Smile

I haven't wired up my M185's Glide circuit because this is how I want to use things:

M185 --> [external] Quantizer --> [external] VC Glide --> VCO

So within the M185 can I wire:
POT1-->diode-->GlideSwitch1-->Voltage mixer
POT2-->diode-->GlideSwitch2-->Voltage mixer
etc
POT8-->diode-->GlideSwitch8-->Voltage mixer

Then use the output of that Voltage mixer to modulate the VC Glide (?)

About how much voltage should be present? As long as there's at least a half volt or so I can boost the voltage enough to engage the Glide.

I'm not trying to *vary* the [external] Glide amount, just turn it on/off.

thanks for your help Smile

Hello

The voltage from POT1-8 bus is about 5v.

Alternatively you can use the V2.1 software with
programable glide settings, again around 5V

Cheers

I dont know why, but as I started with all this I found that the activity there was higher, in the DIY area as well, even though theres been far more effort to sort the material here.
So easier to find projects.

At a guess, Eurorack may be the reason its most active?
I dont care about format, but theres many developers sharing circuits and selling PCBs there, so thats where I go to find whats going out now, while I dive into older schematics here.

Im sure theres politics and competition and such somewhere in the mix, but for simple exposure, DIY at Muff is it, and a nice cheering crowd as well ... though other sections have noise and entitlement enough for me to stay away.

Muffs has acquired critical mass, for modular on the internet. And, of course, all sorts of unsavoury crap pops up there from time to time. That's the nature of a huge membership.

But the DIY section is vibrant to the point of not being able to keep up with projects.

Ryk, assuming you don't have a restrictive agreement with Intellijel, you could probably sell these boards + pics for the rest of time on the muffs DIY section.

I myself am contemplating coding an ATMel/Arduino version of your kind of sequencer because I haven't the electronics chops to craft it the old fashioned way and I can't get my hands on one any other way. And I just mean the circuit, never mind the panel.

I'd fancy a go at making a couple of these (although not in 100m format), the carbontony videos are ace.

Hi,
I'd like to build two modules. Are there any chance for one more PCB run? If there's an issue with minimum order, I have trusted manufacturer in China with reasonable prices and minimum order of 10 boards.

Hello

Thanks for the interest.

PCBs is not not a problem, it is more a problem about
the 8-way switches.
As the Chinese manufacturer no longer makes them . . .

Can another supplier not be found? I'm seeing 8 way slide switches available from China in large quantities. Perhaps a substitute could be found and a group buy or preorder organized. It's a shame to see this die on the vine when there appears to be interest out there.
