this may sound absolutely stupid but what ways are there to attach knobs onto potentiometers?
i've already build/bent some things including pots of various values but i actually don't know what knobs to attach to them and how.
i mainly use pots with those long black 6mm axes and have seen many other different types of them but as i said never really added any knobs to them.

Well, i guess my first suggestion would be to get some knobs that have those tiny little screws on the side. Tightening them around the shaft of the pot will work great, an they also can be used on practically any type of pot.

Some times, knobs will fit perfectly on the shaft.

Some times the pot shafts are too long, in that case i got two suggestions for you:
1. Get some truely fatty wire cutters. the ones that are like a foot long and offer lots of mechanical advantage will snip through anything quickly.

2. pipe cutters. I bought a little one for 6 bucks at a high end hardware store. Just put it on the pot shaft, and spin, spin, spin, spin, spin.... untill the cutters slowly dig into the pot shaft.

I've also considered trying hot glue, just havent put it into practice.
