Hello Ken,

i wish to have a Sequential switch like the CGS-28 but with 16stages.

many uses for it !
For example switching between envelopes.
Or building Sequenzers out of it.
With buffered outputs one could make big trigger sequenzers in conjuncton with a CGS 28, or even with two 16step Babys.

For me, Music beginns with 16steps = 1 Bar.
when having two Bars it begins to be groovy.
working with 16step stuff is much more easy.
16step Sequential switches are a need for me.
Hopefully for others too.

Please feel free to post your own wishes,
or to double my one Wink

well i dont think many people need the extra 8 steps...
but if you really want to go that route you could al;ways replace the 4051s with a 16 channel mux/demux like the 4067

the 4516 counter ken uses is 4-bit so you shouldnt need to sub out that chip just make use of the extra bit

and of course this circuit wont fit on the 8 channel board

My wish is a little more complex along the X and Y axii. Wink

Since I haven't ever seen anywhere, a sequencer engine that you may assign the output BITs TO, I'm in the middle of building mine, right now. Ken Stone's new Master Divider version (2 of them) are now to become part of it, for clock divisions as well as phase changes. (90º, 180º, 270º and normal).

My new engine will allow me to assign counts to different sets of sequencers that have their step #'s controllable by bit selection.

To try and make this clearer in English, let me diagram it:

- Let's say that I have 4 x 4 step sequencers. I'll depict them this way:

x = step OFF
X = step ON

I might have (in the future) them set up in a panel like this:

xxxx
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx

With my sequencer engine (that sends out the bits to be played, I could then patch it together so that the above shown 16 steps play in this sequential order:

(The #'s at the top give a step reference #.)
1... 2... 3... 4...
Xxxx xXxx xxXx xxxX
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx

5... 6... 7... 8...
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
Xxxx xXxx xxXx xxxX
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx

etc. down through to this:

13.. 14.. 15.. 16..
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
Xxxx xXxx xxXx xxxX

and then start over.

Or, I could have them patched to play in this fashion

1... 5... 9... 13..
Xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xXxx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxXx xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxX xxxx xxxx xxxx

1... 5... 9... 13..
xxxx Xxxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xXxx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxXx xxxx xxxx
xxxx xxxX xxxx xxxx

through to this

1... 5... 9... 13..
xxxx xxxx xxxx Xxxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xXxx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxXx
xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxX

and then repeat over

Or - any variations of steps, through the 4 sets of 4 step sequencers.

The differences in sequences potential for this, is astounding! Shocked It's taken me 2 1/2 of years of on/off building, to finally get my panel and PCBs started for it. Though - I've had 1 of my wished for 4, 4 step sequencers completed since November. I hope to have the sequencer engine completed within the next couple of weeks. Once I do, I'll post videos on my site to give a better idea of it all. Smile

My WISH anyways - is to have a sequencer engine, that allows the user greater control of what groupings of notes will play when; how; etc., rather than having the same 8 or 16 notes looping over and over and over and ...... Wink

To finalize just in case: I'm also NOT looking for a computer sequencer that has to be controlled with a mouse / etc. Knobs, switches and cables and I'm happy. Smile

Well there seems to be a lot of sergespiration behind CGS modules, so I wish for a Stonified update of the USG Cool

Yep, a USG and a Wilson Analog Delay. And if someone's taking requests, a Pitch to Voltage Convertor.

One of my other biggest wishes at the mo', is for development on the new percussion module of Thomas Henry's design, to be finalized, so that I can order a couple or three. Smile Shocked Very Happy

another wish to Ken:

2 wishes, maybe both in one handy modul:
--------> CV Control of start/Stopp for External clocks going to Seqeunzers
----> and: gate to trigger with PWM for 4017 Style Sequenzers
please: vote for that one Wink

there are threads with some drawings of schematics alltready,
but i don't understand them enough.

1. ) Start/stopping (External) Clocks
http://www.electro-music.com/forum/topic-26532.html
2.) Something like Gate to Trigger, but with PWM .

fmpov, th biggest gap in the catgirl catalog is an envelope generator. i know an ADSR has been on the drawing table for a while, which would be cool... tho i'd actually prefer a VC AR...

also would like to see a cleanup of the minor kludges on the VCO, but that's 'cause i'm lazy.

FWIW, I'd love a VC ADSR. AFAIK, there isn't a cheap/ affordable PCB around for one, and EGs are always useful. If it's easy to have, VC control of say decay/release is great fun. Try slightly modulating decay with a triangle wave LFO and arpeggiating the result..... Smile

cheers,
Dave

perhaps a 16 stage gate SEQ with a CV ADR per stage

Hi.

The Oakley unit looks superb indeed Smile , but at £42 UKP including the THAT2180 VCA IC for the VC version it's sadly, way beyond my means......

cheers,
Dave

Marc Bareille has a _dual_ VCADSR board for 32 euros:

No exotic (or expensive) parts, either. I have several of them and they are good.

I made this digisound module, with press'n'peel. Just had to re-size and invert. The first digisound module I made, the VCO, I didn't realize the image had to be inverted!!! I really blew it!!... the curtis chip that is!!! Still pissed about that. It's definitely my worst DIY disaster, that chip was at least $30.

But my digi VC ADSR works well. It's actually more like a VC DADSR. Haven't put it behind a panel yet. So many options to consider on this one.
Main cost is the chip, obviously, but besides that, there's not too much else to worry about.

Perhaps use a comparator (trig out to Start) and somehow (a second, linked comparator) for a trig out to Stop whenever the input signal is below the threshold? Could a Boolean solution work here?
