I'd be in for at least two as well thanks. Looks like there's time to get the funds together.

Yeah i bought some metalcan ca3080's.
I would be disapointed when i can't use them.

Thanks for picking this up Fonik.
And Bubble i hope you are doing fine.

Hope Bubblechamber is OK. Sending my best wishes.

Thanks for carrying the flag on this, Fonik. I would be interested in four boards.

i don't think we need a new thread at this point. however, i will start a new one as soon as i got a prototype PCB working.

currently i am building the circuit on breadboard according to my redrawn schematic. this will take a while since i only have one or two evenings a week for DIY. anyways, i am going to build this and i will design a PCB layout for us (double sided, thru-hole).

Great i can use my metalcan in a dip socket!

as a proof of progress i wanted to post the redrawn schematic. so far i found one error on the origianl schematic: the LED for the envelope is reversed.

i decided to have the original LFO and NOISE on each board, but to leave off the run generator and the mic inputs.
the NOISE and the LFO will be laid out in a way one could use one noise source/LFO for all boards, like the original SDS3.

any comments?

now i will start to lay out the schematic and breadboard the whole thing.

SDS3 (redrawn schematic single voice board)

Put a cv input where the run generator goes now.
And add a cv input to bypass the regular lfo with something else.

Great work Matthias!

good idea, and i think i already incorporated it: actually all modulation sources go to one point, the base of the PNP transistor (Q1 on my schematic, T2 on the original schematic). this is the point where the LFO, auto pitch (up/down), overall pitch and rungen meet.

i added one external pitch input, J3 - pitch CV. do you think this would be sufficient?

proof of progress: preview of the PCB. however, i did not finish the breadboard yet. i thought it would be good just to show we are moving on with this (BTW i think i will incorporate a dotcom 6pin header as well). the board is now 5.0x3.4in - i don't think i should shrink it more than this!?

hopefully i get the circuit breadboarded according to the redrawn schematic before the deadline of the LPG 292c expansion boards. then i could order the prototype together with these boards.
this is the first drummodule that i will build, and i am a little bit excited. all the more since a friend of mine has 4 simmons pads laying around unused. they are the newer octagons, but hey, pretty cool 80ies-fashion is 'en vogue' nowadays.

Hexagons canalize more positive energy, but as long as thee are not pentagons you can estimate to be a happy person.

thank you, steve. your post rose some doubts, i investigated a little bit further on the simmons pads i hope to get, and i am glad to say that i will definitely be on the positive side of hexagon controlled energy.

Double good news; Bubblechamber is ok, & the project is going ahead. I think I'll be in for 2 or 4, depending on price. Those 292c expansion boards sound tasty too! Put me down for a couple of those as well!

me too.

Fonik, you added some sexy curves at the traces.

By the way, which software you use for design the PCB?

Thanks.

I'd like a couple, please.

It's probably been mentioned, but an input so we can use the filter for other stuff would be nice. Input for our own noises would work too.

update:
finished the breadboarding today. it works - somehow. LFO, VCF and Decay works, but there are lots of hum and noise. not quite sure about the click level and noise/tone pot. i fear it is due to the breadboards capacitances!?
anyways, i will re-verify my schematic and my circuit on the breadboard. if it still shows above problems, i will build it on my proto PCB...
