Where can I get the oddball power cable for the Engine replaced (at least in the US)? Why Clavia didn't put a ground pin on the power cable, but did on the KB versions? The engine has a metal frame too.

Are these found at common electronics stores?

Thanks

Don't know about where to get your cable from, but in the UK, if a metal framed object is "double insulated" so that no internal live electrical component can touch the frame, then an earth core in the mains lead is not required.

Over here it's a bit like power cords as used for shavers, not sure if it's exactly the same though.

And I forgot to say that it does remind me of the type of lead old portable cassette recorders (remember them?) used to have.

Yup, I had an orange one that I recorded my first electronic experiments with - and it did have such a power cord indeed. I lost most of the tapes unfortunately .. or maybe not Laughing

Almost all power cords without ground in Sweden look like the one the goes into my G2 Engine. If you can find a shop that sells converters (airports?) between international socket configurations, you ought to find this kind of cable as well.

Does it look like this?

If it's the same cable that the G2 keyboard uses, then you're looking for a cord with an IEC C7 connector on one end and an NEMA 1-15 connector on the other.

One such product is Hosa model PWP-426. One possible place to buy one is here.

If the connector on the G2 Engine is different from that of the G2 keyboard, then I can't help you Smile

Oh yeah- I had one of those a long time ago. Those batteries didn't last more than a year though ;(

No they are exactly the same. That's what happens when I looked at the back of my rack without a flashlight. I was looking at the wrong synth ;(
