How about a forum for current photos?
Why only distant memories?

I split this off into a separate topic. Memory Lane is now a forum!
Current photos, is a good idea too...

Some people collect instruments. Greg really plays them; knows them through and through.

That's the Latronic Notron, a very cool sequencer.

They are very difficult to find - out of production for several years now.

Greg, I see you own the Alesis 3630 compressor/limiter/gate. I know it is NOT a high end device.. but is it OK? Useful? Is it noisy? These go for nearly nothing secondhand these days?

Yes, I found the 3630 very useful, mostly for taming the signal from analog synths, e.g. when you crank up the resonance but don't want the levels to go crazy. For more "traditional" compression applications, such as for drums, bass, vocals, or on a final mix, I have a couple of RNCs that are very nice.
You can find the 3630 pretty cheap (under $100). It's cool that it's actually two separate compressors, you can set everything independently on the two sides. And the noise gate is useful for some of those old analog synths with lots of hum.

I'm amazed that you can spot that in the picture!
Or did you cheat and look at my gear list?

elephant
...using special sensors in the trunk.. you guys never ever wondered what that thing is about? eh? elephant

Shocked

.....of course I checked out the gearlist! Very Happy
That mixer looks kool too!

Interesting.. the 3060 is like around 40-60 euro secondhand these days..

Rumour has it that it is really shitty with lotsa noise etc etc.. I have used the device briefly once.. .. and as far as I can remember it was silent, very decent sounding.. in fact a lot better than many of the early 80s compressors I have owned and used... And those were expensive...

and the build quality seemed to be OK too. I might be wrong of course....

It seemed pretty quiet to me. Also I never had any trouble with it.
