Subject description: Boot problems - Look in an unlikely place...

One of my disks in my raid 0 system volume went to the dark side yesterday.

The MacPro would then not start, no problem thought I, I have some spare disks, I have a backup what could go wrong.

In went the Leopard installation DVD, but whenever it booted from it the machine panicked.

In went the tech support disk, panic again.

So stuck my Vista disk in and it booted fine!

By this point I was getting worried, I removed all hard disks and still it kept panicking booting from DVD.

This was about 11pm so I gave up and posted a question on the Apple Discussion forum.

The culprit was my new apple video card, the installation DVD and techtools crash if you have a new video card! Putting the original one back in allowed me to boot from DVD.

And people have a go at Microsoft, makes you laugh eh?

So if you get this problem, look at the video card.
