I have an electric cello with RMC pickups, so you betcha I'm interested in this stuff. The K-Bow can generate MIDI or OSC data and send it wirelessly. I've seen attempts before to capture bow movements as MIDI or OSC data, but this is the most elegant solution I've seen yet - earlier attempts involved wires attached to the bow.

The Roland VG- and VB- line of polyphonic processors always interested me with the idea of creating synth sounds via processing of real string audio signals. The StringPort looks to take this even further, and with better Max/MSP integration to boot.

Yes, Keith is the guy who started Zeta Music, was responsible for Zeta making MIDI violins and such, etc.
