Hello - I've just acquired one of these old Roland sequencers. There's a function called "sync load". The manual seems to be suggesting that it will insert bars and then allow you to repeat them. It's short to the point of...well...it's an early 80s Roland manual, you know.

I think that the idea is that you can play the first bar, then the second bar twice, first bar three times, third bar etc etc - that sort of thing. But I think the author got called away to the phone and forgot where he was then just moved onto the next thing! I'm wondering if it might only have a use if combined with something like an 808, as it gets a mention in the 808 manual.

Anyway - the main question I have to anyone who knows these units is...does the sync load have any use and, if so, how do I use it? Or should I just treat it as "interesting but never finished"?

Many thanks.

Didn´t I upload a PDF of this manual in the Manuals section here?

It´s been awhile since I´ve used the sync load stuff on the CSQ. I seem to remember that it could be used when synced to a rythm unit like the CR-78 and allowed "free riffs" to be played in by hand ( but you had to start playing after 2 or 3 bars and get it right.. I remember it to be quite messy. ) I mostly programmed these on the fly using step mode.

Follow the examples in the manual and try it out. It will make sense eventually. Very Happy
