Since I got my A6 a couple of weeks ago I have been going thru a home stereo. Everything sounds very good on the stereo. Last night I had my first band practice using the A6. I went thru my Roland KC-550. Anyways, it just didn't sound as good as my stereo. I couldn't hear the highs that well and it didn't sound as clear.

So, just wondering what other people out here are using. I'm betting there is something better than the KC-550.

Thanks!

In general, a system designed for a home or studio is going to sound better than a PA... having said that I'm not a big fan of the Roland KC amps. Here are my setups...

Live: SRM450 as monitors -- these cannot compete with a big PA or an ultra-loud geetarist but they work great elsewise. I also run through the PA, where the quality is dependent on the venue. Sometimes it's pretty kick-ass.

Practice room: One of the bands rents, and the practice place uses shitty 80s leftovers. Ugh. One of the bands has a permanent space, with a pretty good PA -- I think its Carvin amps and four speakers (a couple JBLs and some other stuff.)

@ Home: Home stereo system featuring Bryston monoblocks, a Denon receiver, a Pinnacle sub, and N.E.A.R. speakers.

I use a QSC gx5 with a harbinger pa cabinet. The cabinet has two 15's and a horn for highs.

I like the gx5.It performs pretty well with highs and lows. Not a bad sound for $399 USD

I use a pair of Behringer Truth 2031a monitors for my andy. Relatively inexpensive, and good enough. I am adding a 2092 subwoofer soon, to help out on the bottom end, but I have been happy with the 2031s for home studio use.
