Just one more sync post Rolling Eyes , I promise.
This one may be of little interest. Just in case anyone was wondering about the weak sync option on the Roland 100M dual VCO module.
I downloaded the service notes to check my earlier theories, unfortunately the level of detail falls just short of clearly showing what is going on. Based on what I remembered about the sound, this patch has a knob, which varies the strength of the syncing from full (at -64) to off (at 64). What happens is the master oscillator is converted to a narrow pulse then combined with a variable width rectangle derived from the slave sawtooth (using a constant compare). Setting the weakness control around the middle and sweeping the slave frequency gives a broken up sync effect where the syncing toggles in and out depending on the phase relationship between the two waves.
It sounds pretty much what I remember on the 100M and like the original, I'm unsure how useful it is.
Thought I would post anyway as it sort of completes the saga of phase sync, or maybe not Twisted Evil
