Paul Vos posted this on the NM mailing list. Looks pretty interesting...

I started a tap-tempo poll on the electro-music wishlist, but the site is down at the moment (at least I can't connect). So, being impatient, I'll try some questions here:

I just discovered a device called 'Ploytec 34one' tap tempo midi clock pedal ( http://www.ploytec.com/34one ). As there is no G2 tap-tempo functionality, this device seems to be a good option to get the G2 into sync with live music. Does anyone have experience with this hardware? It sends midi clock but also a midi 'start' signal. Does a G2 respond to the latter (tried the manual but didn't find out for sure)?

The 34one is 80+10 euro (shipment included to NL), so it's not too bad. I might go for one if there will be no Clavia solution.

I haven't tried syncing my G2 to anything yet (!) so I can't say from experiemce if it recognizes MIDI start but.. MIDI clock is worthless w/o a start signal, so it must.

This looks interesting if a tad expensive. I wonder how hard it would be to tap on the switch.

The problem with using tap tempo to set a midi clock is that ultimately the clock will drift, relative to whatever it's supposed to be following. The only real solution is that the human players must follow the mechanical clock.
However, a device like this could be useful for getting close, if the humans are prepared to then follow it.
