Subject description: Using Control Voltage
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi to everyone,
I just found this forum and need to ask what is probably a dumb question. Rolling Eyes
A number of years ago I bought a Voltage Controlled Analog Delay from Midwest Analog Products. I assembled the kit within a rack panel and use it from time to time for guitar, etc., and was pleasantly surprised how well it works. However I'm not clear how to use the Control segment, +-5V and +10V jacks, Range and Center controls. Can anyone enlighten me how to use this feature?

i'll jump in and take a shot at this.
I would imagine that the +5 and +10 are for CV, control voltage, inputs. the +5 is for 0-5 volt signals and the +10 is for 0-10 volts. most envelopes output a 0-10V signal, while a number of other devices, and most midi to CV converters output 0-5V.

Thanks bubblechamber for the reply.
I am dumb as a box of rocks about midi to CV converters or envelopes. Just a guitar player that dabbles a little on a cheap Casio keyboard that has midi in and out. Could I use this keyboard somehow to effect the delay? Or, would another device be called for?

HI FredFretter.

Without an interface to convert midi to cv (midi is digital signal and your delay need an analog signal voltage ranging 0/5v or 0/10v) you can't use it.
With this midi to cv you can use pitch bend or key (or other controller wich send midi data ) to control the delaytime or feedback i think.

Thanks for the replies. A converter seems to be in order.
