So I just found the perfect knobs for my project, the "Waldorf" knobs made by albs in Germany, and simultaneously found out that they are out of production!
Once I got over this heartbreak, I thought, "why can't I find places that make/sell knobs like this?", and thought I would ask e-music the same question.

I can find the same ol' same ol' knob designs that have been produced since the 70s anywhere--but I don't WANT the same ol' same ol'. The Minimoog, the VCS, the OB-8, those knob styles have all been done to death.

How do I find smaller distributors like albs that have more unique products? The google has been almost useless, and Mouser/Allied/Digi-Key don't stock anything interesting (see same ol' same ol').

Is there some directory or list somewhere of these little guys? I don't want perfection to slip by under my nose again while I waste my time with the big guys!

hi okto, you can get the "Waldorf" knobs from albs directly (gray/black, red/black, white/black), but there is a minimum quantity.

I don't know every detail about it but you can find from time to time some bulk orders organized on midibox.org forum.

maybe you can organize one here for the e-m members? Wink

one detail though, those knobs are for D shaft and come without pointer so they work better with encoders.

how are you going on with the knobs for this time? did you managed to order them? could you identify them at Mouser (there are no photo there).
do you know the ID of Clavia NL2 knobs? (you know, they are popular among synths, mfb, x0xb0x etc)
