Dang Les, get some rest. Sorry about what you've been going through.

The orientation I posted above is derived from the note that one transistor of each pair is reversed, and that the collector goes to ground.

Hi all , here's a track i done with the Dual Karplus Strong , a bit more droney than the usual EPICYCLUS stuff i do , this is all diy modular & drum machine , featuring the dual KS with an Echobase delay in each aux feedback loop.
Half way through the track a simple monosynth sequenced bass line & RM1X drums appear,
Each of the 2 KS cv ins are hooked up to a Mfos 16 step sequencer each which is clocked from the RM1X.
Both the Mfos sequencers run real slow (clock divide by 32 , Fonik divider)

i've been meaning to get a track done with these for a month or two for Les , Happy listening Very Happy

Well, i have three boards left to sell, and you can have all three if you like, but i have to get your address and paypal payment by tomorrow morning, tuesday June 7 2011 because my ride to the post office goes on a long vacation tomorrow at noon. I will email you with the same information. If not, you'll have to wait three months for the boards.

Les

I've got two built & functioning KS11 boards that I'm deciding if I should sell. I have no modular rack system or anything to build them into; they were simply a stepping-stone to a larger project. If anyone is interested I may be willing to part with them...

MMM i've got a kind of "stupid" question...

Is the stim in the KPS trigger in ?? I'm a bit lost...

And, i've seen some pictures with 2 cvs in for both vco & lfo, are the seconds cv in taken from another place of the pcb, or not ?

thanks for helping me !

cheers

Hi !:!

Nobody can answer me ?? Please ! Should i trig it via a "normal" sequencer, or should i prefer use a "gate" one ??

thanks !

as far as i know you could feed in whatever you like. but i think a short pulse is enough.
the answer should be somewhere in this thread.

Hi deadbeat,

I have not tried this particular circuit yet, but as far as I understand the "stim" input is not exactly a trigger. It is a stimulus signal to the resonator that is made up by delay line + filter + summing amp + eventual external devices in the feedback loop.

You can actually use several kind of signals as a "stim", depending on what your purpose is: pulses of any kind, short noise bursts, continuous noise, ...

Said that, such input can actually be used as some sort of trigger too: send it a trigger pulse and the circuit will produce a sound, depending on all the settings. Due to C10, the delay line input is AC coupled, so you can even use a gate signal as an input, but it will produce a sound when gate goes up and then another one (probably identical) when gate goes down. This may not be what you want.

About the other question on CVs, I didn't quite get it.
The VCO CV of course drives the VCO, and in typical KS applications it will determine the pitch of the output signal too.
The VCF CV obviously drives the cutoff frequency of the filter.
In typical KS applications, both CVs are often tied together, but it is useful to have them separate if you want to drive them independently; e.g. you can leave the VCF open and use something else in the external loop to filter the feedback signal, or you can modulate the filter in order to obtain brighter notes and duller ones at the same pitch, or short notes and long ones, or whatever you like.

I hope this can help you.

BTW, I don't think it was a stupid question at all.
If it is still unclear, try reading some theory about the Karpus-Strong algorhythm, or ask here again, or both.

cheers
Paolo

YEAH !! Thanks a lot !! you help me to understand it better Paolo !

About cvs, i was trying to figure how the second set of cv in was built, if they were mounted in parallel of the first vco & cv in or if they were taken from others points on the pcb.

thx again !

Hi,
I understand that there are no KS PCBs available at present.
Is any file of its copper side available for "press'n peel" DIY ? if it is single sided I may try to make one for myself at home; otherwise, I'll just have to wait and hope for another run, or make it on perfboard based on the schematic.
thank you

Hi folks, i apologize for being away so long, i got sucked into the world of Second Life with a hot product and a business venture.

There are no more PCBs available, however the design is public domain so you can make your own. Go to the eChucK forum and look at the repository for the files.

If anyone would like to make a run of the boards, please do so and post about it in this thread.

I'm sorry that I have been away, I will try to check in more often Sad

Les

I could do a run of these, after I finished building my own, so i know what possible changes need to be applied.

Very Happy
Cheers,
Woody
