Subject description: help wiring..

Hi, I'm just about done building the Bi'n'tic with the Bridechamber board and I need to know how to wire the dual 100k pot for the bandwidth.

I've managed to figure out how to wire everything else from looking at the pictures and comparing them to the CGS build page but this one is eluding me. It's a shame there's no diagram or instruction for the wiring.

Has anyone else built one of these that can lend a hand?
Thanks.

Hi
i don't know if the Bridechamber board is different to the CGS one, but does this pic help?

It may be different,. I really can't tell.
In this picture it looks like the wires are blue-green-blue-green from the board and the blues hook up to the left side of the pot?

yep, now I pull my finger out and look at the pics, the Bridechamber has a few mods and different layout.
Assuming the markings are similar to the original CGS PCB, the holes connected together with the white lines go to the same pot.
so on the Bridechamber PCB, it looks like left pin (pot 1), centre pin (pot 1), left pin (pot 2),centre pin (pot 2).

Whereas on the CGS PCB in the pic above it goes: left pin (pot 1), left pin (pot 2), centre pin (pot 1), centre pin (pot 2).

....maybe? Wink

I tried it out and I'm not getting any sound out of the module.

I think I may have the wiring mixed up in a few other places.

When I figure this out I'll make sure and post a wiring diagram for anyone else having trouble..

I found that I had mixed up the inputs. There are multiple points on the board that are marked "IN".
So now the signal passes through but the only controls that have any effect are resonance and bandwidth.

The saw and square outs are silent. The internal signals are silent.
Fine and coarse tune have no effect.

Any suggestions?

It sounds like your VCO section is not working.
If you check out the schematic, the top section seems to be ok.
You need to check out everything before the clock input of the 4024.
The Bridechamber version will have extra circuitry for the saw/tri outputs, these will probably come off pin 6 of the CA3140.

Check the FET is installed correctly and double-check all links and components are installed, soldering is okay, all chips getting power to the correct pins.

Thanks Andrew.
I think I found the problem or at least part of it.
I forgot the 1k tempco/metal film resistor that goes over the ssm 2210 IC.

I put it in but no changes. Could that have damaged something?

AHA!
Here's the problem.. http://www.bridechamber.com/bridechamber.com/Bintic%20PCB.html

The LM311N needed a link.

I don't know how I never came across that page.

I forgot, for 1v/oct add a 100k resistor in series with the CV attenuator output.

Thanks! This helps a lot. I'm currently in this build and was scratching my head over this. I take it your not using a Bridechamber panel with that CV attenuator?

Does anyone know what CLKO is on the Bridechamber Bi-N-Tic board?

I would guess Clock Out,
but not sure if that would just be an extra VCO output or what.

I'm building one with an original panel design,
and including the /4, /5, /6, /7 outputs instead of a rotary switch.
Was planning on normalling the main out to the feedback input.
