Diatonic Converter Subject description: Anyone tried it? |
|
|
It seems like the Diatonic Converter would be pretty cool paired up with a sequencer,. rather than sliding between pitches and having to tune steps, it would jump to the closest note in the chosen scale which would make sequencer manipulation a lot easier to do live.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried this with any success,. or maybe I'm misunderstanding this module? _________________ DRONEGOAT |

The Diatonic Converter requires a DIGITAL input (3 bits per octave). You need an analog to digital converter to drive it if you want to use something like an analog sequencer. I have successfully merged Ray Wilson's (MFOS) Quantizer with the Diatonic Converter (using it's A/D converter to drive the Diatonic Converter). See this thread:

If you just want to quantize the output of your sequencer (saves fiddling to get the right "notes") you can just use the Quantizer. I like using the Diatonic Converter output with a random or complex LFO input to the Quantizer - you can get pretty wild Major/Minor melodic streams that way. |
