not a Krunkus totem. An old ceramic windchime, which just happened to be right in the middle of the picture! I wasn't even aware of it when I took the pic, I was only focussed on the trees! Laughing

After spending a couple of weeks sorting legos around here (we have a lot), I had a couple days off and between doing paperwork (which was sort of the point of the days off) and fighting the paperwork, I worked on a Lego clock (well, 3 versions of the clock so far) and having got the 3rd version to work with an electric motor, decided to try to make an escapement out of Legos.

I chose a long clock version because (a) I know how they work and (b) they are reasonably efficient (slow) tickers and take less energy to operate. Which was a concern when using Lego Technic as the gearset.

anyway, here's the escapement.

Front of the escapement. The escape wheel is from a Bionicle, some kind of saw thing. 12 teeth so 24 seconds per rotation. Usable.

Description:

The gearing. 5 x 5 x 1.667 means the winding drum turns once about 15.5 minutes. Unfortunately, gearing down further just results in no force to drive the escape wheel.
