Photos shot from my balcony.
They are a bit blurry as I had to use a longer exposure, zoom in, and I was shivering a bit because of the cold.
I am pretty sure nobody got hurt as the ambulance drove away rather quick.

My students and I spent two hours on Thursday 12 April 2018 (two days ago) walking around campus taking photos for a Virtual Architecture Animation Program. Here are some of the ones I like the best, starting with Rohrbach Library. I haven't rotated any because they rotate in the animations, anyway.

Thanks, PHOBoS! Too bad about that tree. It takes them so long to grow, and so short to fall. There are two maples behind our deck with an infestation of Spotted Lantern Fly, a recent invasive from China. The cold mid-winter may have knocked some of them out. These maples already sustained damage in the October 2011 blizzard, which took out a lot of trees because the leaves were still on, giving the ice & snow much more surface area on which to cling. They shade the deck nicely, but I am afraid I may have to cut them down if the Lantern Fly infestation becomes really bad. I'll post a few pics when the little buggers reappear.

We used the above + additional campus-architectural photos as animated paintbrushes. Here is a short MOV video of my student Grace's work, and Shannon's, and mine. Am still enhancing this generative painting toolset, recently presented conference paper on some related programming techniques. Two of my screenshots below.

I knew those pigeons were up to no good (and now they started making trouble in my neighbourhood) Laughing

I do feel a bit sad about it. I've looked at that tree daily for about 13 years which is how long I've lived here.
I could see it from my back door and from my kitchen window (and balcony of course). It's always nice to
see it producing new buds in early spring when it gets a bit sunny and then within no time it's complete
green again and starts to flower. It's not completely gone yet but since it broke there might be something
wrong with it and maybe it's a bit out of balance now. So I don't know if it will be replaced.

good luck with the maples dale!

They removed the remaining part today, so it's really gone now. Sad
But I got a recording out of it and a souvenir.
(If I had the right tools I could make a bread board out of it)

just the remaining part of the bread tree, there are tree more threes on the right side.
One of them was actually replaced last year, so I expect there is going to be a new one planted here too.

Came across this on my balcony. It's hard to judge its size by a photo, but I usually don't see these this large.

That's a great photo and a beautiful dragonfly. I am not sure if I've seen them in that color, the ones I usually see are blue or green.

This type of dragonfly visits my garden regularly, it’s bigger as the blue and green ones (about twice their size) and at first glance it was mistaken for a hornet Rolling Eyes
