Hi,

Just wondering if there is a simpler or smaller kit than the theremax. I am thinking of making a theremin for a friend(as a gift) but i do not think they need the full deal...just something to play around with. any ideas?

thanks

steve

Hi.

Depends what you're looking for.

The Silicon Chip Magazine theremins are OK for the price. I don't know too much about the current incarnation, but it is available here: http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5475

(Mods and improvements can be found on thereminworld.com)

If you want to go a bit more downmarket and build a pitch-only instrument and put it in a jocular enclosure:

This is fun and funky and as cheap as it gets - http://www.madlab.org/kits/theremin.html

This is a popular school science fair project - http://harrisoninstruments.com/101/101_description.html
