i love the way they play the sounds of the instruments and composers as they discuss them. very well made!

There is just one thing which strikes me the most...
The synthesizer being the instrument of the new romantic.
Of course!
It has to do with feelings and moods: romantic.
Even the thought of man versus machine.
It is the same as photography which became the vehicle of surrealistic views only by its realistic nature Smile

Wout I think they were using the word "Romantic" to describe the music genre more so... that new wave/new romantic period in the 80s Smile

Could well be, but I still like to see it in a wider scope.
Romantism, special in music, has to do with expressing emotions rather then structures. It also demands more freedom in orchestration, something which can be provided by the synthesizer in the days of the new romantism. It was not about different colored candles on the dining table Smile

ELP 'Lucky Man' is no romantism; Ultra Vox 'Vienna' surely is.

Thats partly why they were called the New Romantics I think, along with the fashion side of it.
