Lovely one, rainshadow! I particularly enjoyed the chorus, very nice indeed.

Yeah that was a good one, rainshadow, I really enjoyed it! I'm a sucker for repetitiveness so that's just good. I don't know what you don't like about the production either...

I won't comment on the lyrics though, I'm not really into lyrics that aren't attached to music. Even then they serve a secondary purpose to the tones for me, though syllables or their parts can work together with the rythm and tones in interesting ways - I hear some of this in that mp3.

Here's me trying. I'm not very fluid in English, so please correct if something wrong, and I welcome feedback good or bad. Thanks Surprised

Elaine

Laying in my bed I cannot sleep
Thoughts in my head - around they sweep
I'm counting sheep
But concentration I can't keep

I'm diving deep into my mind
No consolation I can find
My heart's in pain - I can't forget about Elaine

To much confusion in my brain
Seems like my life is going - down the drain
I try to meditate - but cannot concentrate
Time is passing by and now it's really getting late

By now I should be dreaming - sleeping on my pillow
Still I lay listening to the weeping from the willow

I'm so sweat I'm soakin' wet
I stand up to smoke a - cigarette
Then I go to bed again
I'm laying listening to the rain - drippin' on my window pane
I try to sleep but all in vain
She drives me nuts - I'll go insane
My heart's in pain - I can't forget about Elaine

Still I lay wondering I'm wide awake
And not so long does it take - before
Before the dawn begins to break
The morning sun begins to rise
It's breaking through the cloudy skies

I've laid awake all night in sorrow
I've got to make it right tomorrow - when I see her
I will look into her eyes
And I wont tell her - any lies
I will explain if she comes back to me again

If she comes back to me again
I'll buy her roses and champagne
If only she - comes back to me
I give her all my lovin' - tenderly
I'll listen more when she complain

I wont let pride - stand in my way
Cause all I want is her to stay
I lay me down - and take the strain
If she comes back to me again

But she must also - make it plain
If she comes back to me again
She must reveal - how does she feel
Show me her love is true for real

Cause I don't wanna be - a wagon wheel
Don't wanna be her ball and chain

And I don't wanna chase a rainbow
And I don't wanna be a shadow
I don't want - to block her sun
And I don't wanna see her run

I don't want - to see her go
I just want that she shall know
That I just want - our love to grow
And surely I will let it flow

I really want her to remain
I can't forget about Elaine
I lay me down . and take the strain
If she comes back to me again

Charlie Brown

He is old and bald
sleeps out in the cold
his soul is sold
to king alcohol

Dressed in filthy rags
carrying plastic bags
his hands so shaken
that he can't hold his fags

With his swollen feet
he walks the city streets
around around he goes
with his big red nose

When it's gets dark
he's on a bench down in the park

He doesn't care about what people thinks
he's not aware of that he stinks
he just sits there like a sphinx and drinks and drinks

In most people's eyes
he can see despise
he ain't that much attractive
still he attracts the flies

Those who him despised
guess they would be surprised
to know that this old fart
has got a purple heart
yes, if they only knew
what he's been going through

Way back in world war two
under the red, white, blue
slick fighter planes he flew
he fought for me and you
he was the captain of the crew

Over London Town
two times shot down
then later on once more
over Singapore

Listed lost at war
in February forty four
then late in forty five
he was found alive

He was alive but barely
he wasn't dead but nearly
he couldn't hear or speak a sound
still today he can't speak clearly
his mental health is broken down

Into the night
when the dark comes creepin'
the dreadful fright comes sneakin' round
then he is back where he was found

Behind his bloodshot eyes
there are purple skies
the sun is rising - red and hot as spice

In his nightmare
still he can hear
the desperate cries
from the poor guys
they picked out five
and let the ants eat them alive

Now he's depressed
he can't find rest
inside his chest
his heart is dead and cold as ice

He's not much blessed
his life been messed
he surely had to pay the prize

to rehabilitate
for that - it's much to late - to late

Now he is at the Golden Gate
the moon comes up the sky goes pink
as the sun begins to sink
he is sitting on the brink

He doesn't care about what people thinks
he's not aware of that he stinks
he just sits there like a sphinx and drinks and drinks

He doesn't stop
until it's only left a drop
then he stands up
a bit unsteady cause he's drunk
but he is ready now the sun - has sunk

He makes a one last toast
for those he loved the most
for all those brave
those they couldn't save
those that didn't make it home from war
those lost and gone for ever more

Then without hesitation - without fear
he throws himself out in the air

He is falling like a stone

for the last time falling down

for the last time he has flown

his real name shall be unknown

let's just call him Charlie Brown

Now there is nothing more to say

he ends his life in Frisco Bay 'Crying or Very sad'

Here is one from recent times....

The Bull, the Serpent, the Ivy, and the Wine

It was all about the party
Rode the market Brahma bull
Took us for the whole 8 seconds
Fleeced us with the magic wool
Tried to live like you were Titans
Dionysan
Damned Dionysans

Mysteries secret of your rites
Disregard the highest stakes
Fox skin suits and panther cars
Constrictors fear the viper snakes
Who but you could wrestle Titans
Dionysan
So Dionysan

All of us out of your league
Majestic when you were so mighty
The vine fell off as though a weed
How gauche is now the ghost of Ivy
We were subject, you were Titans
Dionysan
Dionysan

So, old religions pass in time
Your wicked numbers past their prime
Droppin' dimes...
And used up pockets losing faith
For all accounts haunt like a wraith
Bought your fate...

Yours was all the masses madness
Our comedy tragic in your wake
Piss out vinegar on parched earth
Mistook the raisin for the grape
Soured nectar of the Titans
Dionysan
Old Dionysan

Damned Dionysans
Dionysans

Yes Glamrock....Here is one like that...

Lord of Alone

He walks the streets, in somber steps, to somewhere, he’s never sure;
Along the sidewalks freshly swept, beneath the new day’s azure…
At the park again, the leaves and grass, and a bench, that’s worn, and known,
He sits, and lets the hours pass, for when he sits, he sits alone…

He’s the king of all he sees,
“It’s all empty” he decrees,
A lone leaf blowin’ in the breeze…
The Earl of his world, Lord of Alone.

The chipmunk meets him as before, for a meal that’s free to take,
And leaving when, there is no more, with other stops to make…
The birds fly in to peck the bread, the crumbs of his loving thrown,
Their antics bring a laugh to his head, but as he laughs, he laughs alone…

He’s the Duke of desolation,
Living in his pure privation,
A hollow note of confirmation…
Knight of contrite, Lord of Alone

Home again, the walls and space, close in on the T.V.’s blaring,
He cooks his meal, and fills his face, and to the tragic world sits staring…
The pain, and suffering, he’d seen before, the smiling lies, the politic’s drone,
Brings his tears, he can take no more, and he cries, and he cries alone…

He’s the prince of his perdition
Deploring mostly his condition
The loser of all his ambition
Noble of no one, Lord of Alone.

His family lost sometime, long past, his friends, all dead and gone,
He’d lived his best, and now was last, a gentle man, just going on…
He was found there sitting, cold, and dead, by his neighbors, next to the phone,
“He was so nice, such a sweet man”, they said, but when he died, he died alone.

He was the crown of his commission,
Earl of a world, of self-sedition,
He was viscount of his volition
Knave in his grave, Lord of Alone.

Arrangements Of The Terminally Deranged

Strange how things will change, to stay the same
Odd the trouble found, to dodge the blame
Same old music, players, all that's changed
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Flowers in cannon barrels, dare to bloom
Dour seeks the power of clouds mushroomed
Smiles at miles of myriad plans they've made
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

U.N. teams inspect
Spinsters to deflect
Satellites reject the doubter’s pun
All the blood that’s spilled
Our future we rebuild
On fabricated duties of the gun

A world where drastic action has poor price
A slice of spastic faction pie looks nice
Top it with a crop of whipped up blame
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Chaotic patterns swirl in prescient tryst
Mistaken dreams projected on the mist
And on the field the battle births its stain
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Diseases to protect
Missiles to deflect
Satellites detect the damage done
All of them we killed
For them we rebuild
Our statues on the barren ground we've won

Only losers ever were to blame
Survivors queuing up to file their claim
Children playing games, find the mines that maim
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

And even though it seems their God's the same
Embattled, their religions are estranged
The dissonant heretic chords are played
Arrangements of the terminally deranged
Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Arrangements of the terminally deranged

Of these three I'd say that Lord of Alone struck me the most. As with Charlie Brown, I see elements of myself in these, though the characters portrayed are more iconic than my experience. I suppose we all know these feelings to different degrees.

I think I'll read some of these lyrics in my New Year's Eve performance on electro-music radio.

The inspiration to "Charlie Brown": On a island far north in Norway there was an old man living in a small house that frequently was invaded by drunken hooligans that was drinking and raving - doing as they pleased (like cooking his fur hat - jumping in and out of windows etc.).

This old man could hardly speak, his voice was very growling. They told me that during the war he was a sailor in the Norwegian merchant fleet, and that he had been captured by the Japanese and badly tortured. He was a prisoner there for three years.
He had told them a story about how two men (American/Canadian) had been buried with only their heads sticking above the ground. Then they poured kerosine over them and lit them on fire.
He had a medal from the King hanging on the wall in the living-room, and when the police came to his house (because of noise and the raving) he stood up and shouted with his growling voice:"Get out of my land".
This man made an impression on me, so I wrote this song.

Hope I'm not a bore, but here's another:

Another Place in Space

Some say that probably soon
we can all take a trip to the Moon
Yeah, wouldn't it really be nice?
There's no rain - there's no clouds in the sky
so you are certain to get a good view
when the Earth rises shining in blue

Picture yourself what a sight
when the Earth rises shining in blue - and white
Up there at night
the stars they shine so very bright
it's a delight
heaven glows in all it's might

On the Moon
there's no war
there's no violence
we can explore
in peaceful silence
there's no pollution to be found
so we must go up there and twist things 'round

Now there's no longer a doubt
we can see that the time is running out
that Earth now is well beyond it's better days
wasted it's doomed - forever lost in any case
that's what reality conveys
For human race it is an awful disgrace
but it's a fact we'll have to face
we'll have to find another place in space

Some say we'll travel to Mars - one day
some say we'll go among the stars - they say:
If we are practical we might
go intergalactical - imagine
intergalactical spaceflight
near by the speed of light
just like a bullet in the night

Now we are a little stuck
we need to make some innovations
we need a little luck
we need a little but not - to much patience
then we can make it through
maybe in just a few - generations

Maybe we will make some new relations
Maybe we will meet some strange creations
Surely we will see some new sensation
Again the Moon shall be our destination
We'll go there to build a lunar station

Then we will go to conquer Mars
and we will bring along our cars
and when that is done
then we can leave the sun
then we can go among the stars
to find a place we can enjoy
another planet to destroy

glamrock, i really like the song, but i have one question. Does the earth rise on the moon? I thought the moon's orbit was such that it is always facing the earth, so that the earth will occupy a fixed position for an observer on the moon. Or I could be wrong, does anyone know? Anyway, cool song man!

Les asked me to introduce myself in here so I thought it'd be cool...

One of my tracks was recently named a semi-finalist for an american songwriter sponsored contest over on uplaya.com

Anyway the song is called "Run From Me" and you can hear it here.

Here are the lyrics...

Quote:
I am transforming right before your eyes.
I am becoming all that you despise.
I am shedding my skin, my body rotting from within, I can feel the burning intensify.
I'm the thorn twisting in your side.

I feel the horns forming right above my eyes.
I am the serpent slithering right between your thighs.
I steal a bite from your fruit, while my seed takes root, I can feel my fires multiply.
And there is nothing you can do to put it right.

And I am no good.
I don't want to see these things done to you.
But its too late now and you better run from me. You better hide the bleed, well...

You better run from me, you better hide from me.
There is no gaurantee you're gonna make it out alive.
No matter what you believe, everyone else can see
Your heart belongs to me, whether you live or die.

I am the needle plunged into your mind.
I'm your addiction personified.

And I am no good.
I don't want to do these things I've done to you.
But I can't help myself and I give in to my greed. I give into my needs, yeah.

I am the blood turned into wine.
The sacred flesh you wish to find.
The one to worship on your knees, I am the science to your creed, I'm your religion demystified.
When you want your prayers answered, don't look to the sky.

I wrote this like a year ago... probablly has some mistakes, but who cares...

Quote:
Mustard

Light goldenrod I see
the condiment of law-givers it is!
Mouthwatering, enchanting paste
only for people that have good taste

The bristly texture that caresses my palate
takes me to a world of eternal pleasure!
The orgasmic flavor feels like an endorphin rush
Natural aphrodisiac that will make you blush

It's my almighty preeminent tonic
It's the seed of power and urge
I just can't resist the delightful scent;
You and I, together we are meant

Some people need love, alcohol etcetera etcetera
What I need is... MUSTARD!
Mustard fulfills me in every posible way.

I like to smell it while listening to Bach;
I like to taste it while reading "Capitalism & Schizophrenia";
I like to think about it while appreciating Marcel Duchamp's art;

When I go to restaurants I order mustard
Mustard is delicious...
If I were a fascist dictator I would ban all the other condiments.
Mustard I love you.

OK, being my old contradictive self, and having read through the lyrics here and liked a lot of them, I can't resist the urge to throw in something of my own. Embarassed It's an old slightly nonsensial thing that I probably had a tune for that I lost while I was writing down the lyrics. It happens sometimes.

Quote:
She loves me
I love another
Don't you just love it
I just hate her
Cupid's arrow deflects towards her
Last one hit is first down the gutter

She sees me
I watch another
Single file along a red corridor
Line of sight is eclipsed by desire
Don't you just love it
When you're in the theater

She reaches out
I run from her
This is a film projected on water
A narrow slit to a celluloid screener
She turns away
I turn towards her

/Stefan

WakeOfDestruction: Impressive, Engaging, Fascinating! Those are the best lyrics I have ever read, I see why you were awarded for them. Well, actually here at electro-music we don't do "best", we do "all", but man those are awesome lyrics. Can you please post an MP3 of the song so I can play it on my radio show? Thanks.

Gsanchez, I like your new avatar and I really enjoyed your mustard song. I used to have a collection of mustards in my fridge, perhaps I will collect again. My father, recently deceased, won the "Best of Philly" prize for his pretzels, and what is a pretzel without mustard? What is a man without mustard? The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed said Jesus Christ, and I bet he enjoyed those lyrics too!

Antimon (Stefan), that's eerie, I once was in a theatre when a girl asked me to leave my girlfriend to be with her instead. I didn't. Also I'm intrigued by the notion of a movie projected onto water. Nice one.

Inventor; The Moon is in a fixed orbit around the earth - that's correct, but still - as we can see the moon rise here on the earth, one can see the earth rise on the moon. Here you can see it on video:

http://www.redorbit.com/news/video/space/6/view_of_earth_rise_on_the_moon_during_apollo_11/23725/index.html
