I'd be curious if there's anyone here with any experience at all of Chimera gear. Searching here doesn't give any particuarly informative hits. This little sequencer looks exactly like something I need.

I own a bC8, I love it. Cheap and fun. Great grainy digital sound. It is a really great drone box, the various waveshapes sound great, and there are like a million mod routings, selectable by a single knob.

Being able to totally change the sound of the synth by turning a single knob is really amazing.

If a more complex synth with the same design concept came out I would be all over it instantly.

What are those function blocks called, or whatever? It's like a serge or buchla!

GAS, definitely.

Hmm... there seems to be a fair amount of complaints and resignment over at Muff Wiggler's, and also in Chimera's own forum. The complaints are over Chimera's delivery times and dishonesty concerning them.

I know that impatience with small synth manufacturer's can get ugly sometimes, and Muff Wiggler's has a different general tone of voice than here, but this may be cause for concern.

I should really respond to this. These concerns are really valid-- given problems customers have had with grenader, etc-- we know there are issues of dishonest business practices in the low-volume-production-run synth community.

That said, here is my experience with Chimera:

I ordered a bC16 and a bC8.

My bC8 was delivered to my apartment, according to US postal service. I never received it. I considered my money lost.

I ordered a bC16. At the same time I told BC ( the manufacturer) about my experience with the post office. He sent another one out soon, at no cost to me.

After waiting a bit for the bC16, I asked for a refund and promptly got it.

Prompt email response every time.

That is my experience with Chimera. In my experience, the only issue is extended wait times, with unreliable shipping dates. Extended wait times are common in our synth community, though. The unreliable shipping dates are an issue, but not a terrible one, I think. It is not compounded with something like Plan B shite-ass construction.

Besides that, their customer service in my experience is top-notch.

My 2c.
