Nord lead 2x hums Subject description: my nord lead 2x hums! |

Hi everyone,
i've recently bought a Nord Lead 2x keyboard from ebay and everything seems to be working perfectly; however, when the unit is switched on i can hear quite clearly a hum sound coming from the power unit inside the synth (bit like when an amp is switched on). Is this normal? i've borrowed a Nord G2 from work and that seems to produce the same internal humming sound as well when its switched on. I'm guessing that it could just be how Nords are built, but can anyone confirm this, does anybodies Nord do the same thing?
I've tried plugging both units directly to the mains using different power cables, but i get the same result.
i'm from the UK so our power mains run at 220v and the keyboard itself is the British version.
please reply
Cheers
Andrew! |

The current is at the wrong side of the electric road! Just unplug the wall connector, turn it 180 degrees (Celsius or Fahrenheit, it doesn't matter...) and plug it in again. Most complains about this come from the UK and parts of The Netherlands where people don’t know the difference between left or right, special in the week-ends…
All units make the hum. As I understand it is some resonance between the coil and the metal housing of the synth. In fact I find it a rather comforting sound: all works The NordModularKey makes the loudest hum, but still the computer van is the loudest in the studio!
BTW did anybody save the april-fool announcement of the left handed NordLead2 on the computer? I lost it…
