What would you like |

I was thinking what would people actually like the iPhone to do from a musical perspective.
For me a decent OSC implementation would be very good, the current batch are pretty clunky to say the least. Something along the lines of the Lemur with a scripting language and the ability to create/edit templates on the iphone rather than using an app running on a computer.
What are you wishes? |

You phrased here exactly what I've been thinking, so +1 on that. Something highly customisable that sends OSC. I haven't tried TouchOSC, how close does that come?
I've been thinking about some kind of sequencer/daw app as well, but I recently tried one and am having second thougts on the small format.

I must say that I'm so happy with the features that are there that I've had no time to think of what's missing.
TouchOSC is good enough for me and I think editing it on the computer is better than on the iPod, but if I had a wish it would be for it to be better implemented in the recieving software so that I don't have to assign 64 or more parameters by hand! The graphic EQ presets in TouchOSC are great for controlling a big amount of parameters at once. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

It's probably not possible, but MIDI keyboard control via USB would be very cool _________________ Jez

Definitely possible.
I have been playing with midi over OSC, so basically we could send midi over OSC/UDP from the iPhone to a daemon on the computer which has created a virtual midi driver, this midi stream is then sent via the midi driver.
Or is this not what you meant, I didn't get the USB bit? |

no, I just thought it would be nice to connect a midi keyboard by usb directly to the iphone/touch, but like I said I wouldn't imagine this is possible _________________ Jez

There is a protocol for the Iphone/iPod USB, it is layered and some kind of wired operation should be possible. I mean, tethered operation is possible so it can do proper IP somehow (PPP?) _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

How about a Mainstage-like multieffects processor for guitarists? This would require developing an I/O interface, preferably using the 30-pin port. _________________ "If it is art, it is not for all. If it is for all, it is not art." -- Arnold Schoenberg |
