Lookin' good! A refreshing sight, in a rock and roll world that now seems to be dominated by Jaguars, Jazzmasters, and similarly shaped guitars that are now in fashion thanks to Kurt Cobain, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine and all the later pop artists who took up guitars of this shape because of the aforementioned artists. _________________ Current and recent work on Soundcloud

Nice plank! Is that wheel at the back for adjusting trem tension? _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. Where there are too many soldiers, there is no peace. Where there are too many lawyers, there is no justice.

That one is so much cooler than my 1984 vintage Ibanez RS530, although having owned a guitar for 25 years should probably count for something. _________________ Where there are too many policemen, there is no liberty. I dare say 25 years count for a lot! My first guitar, a beat up cheap Aria accoustic, is nearing that age and I can't bring myself to replace it - in fact, I may send it to a proper luthier for a full refurbishing.

Very nice indeed, I am a very big fan of the Japanese Ibanez guitars.
Play that for a while and then go back to a Gibson style neck and feel the suffering! |

Well, I still like my Gibsons, both for sound, feel and style. I have to admit that I'm beginning to see the big point about these Ibanez necks though Hopefully I can adjust to using different necks, could help me build some versatility.
@ Oskar : Yes, that wheel is for tremolo spring tension. There's also an extra set of springs with a mechanism to aid in zero point return (ZPS). It's my first trem, so I have no idea about it's merits.

Those wheels are great, no arseing around with different springs when you change string gauge.
This was a new S series from NAMM :
I must admit I am lusting after this, I have an old S Prestige and its so lovely. |

That's an S5470F, right? A very snazzy guitar indeed - I was considering that one and did my research (very thoroughly, as I like to do), and "everybody" are reporting sustain problems with them. I'd advice you to check it out for yourself and/or read some before getting one (ibanez fora, youtube sustain demos etc.). Mind you, I've found a source of J Customs, Jems and high end RG's with only a little bit higher prices than e.g. S5470's in the UK (PM for info).

Thanks for the info, I'm not going to get one though, my guitar buying is on hold for quite a while after the Dusk Tiger!
I have got the urge to make one though with a internal GK3 kit and maybe a iTouch sunk into the body, as always though I have no bloody time. |
