I am a newbie to synth building and I just finished the VCO-1. Amazingly it worked great the first time I powered it up (unlike the bipolar power supply I built for it). I also have a self-sourced x0xb0x. I can control the VCO-1 using the CV out on my x0x with no problem. My question is, where can I get an FM signal to test out the EXP FM and LINEAR FM inputs to the VCO-1? I think I understand the basic theory behind FM, I just have no idea what I would need to output such a signal.

Welcome reedlaw. Very Happy

Just for check you could FM it with its outputs itself.

Or another VCO.

Or the audio outputs of your x0x0x, just think that VCO1 inputs are ready for 10V peak to peak signals.

Actualy any signal: Audio, LFO, envelope, etc for Exponential FM and audio for the Linear FM (this input has a capacitor blocking the DC).

Regards.
