new a6 swapping? |
|
|
hallo,
i'm a already longtime user of synth's ( an addict so to say)
started with a ms20 ( in 1979) , now working with an a6 andromeda.
some time already i'm baffled with the lack of a side where andromeda users can swap patches, discussed and learn from eachother.
although there are good infosides for the a6 ( like code404) nowhere there seems to be a place to actually "play with eachothers patches"
hope to creat something like that on this side.
besides that if i might help anybody with a question on sounddesign or if i have a question myself , a further use of this form might certainly also occur in future ( beware!)
(p.s. i already did a trial upload of a transistor organ patch "solina" for the a6) |

Sunny Pedaal, glad to have you here...
Are you the same person, Leo, that send me an email?
I just set up a dedicated forum for the Alesis Andromeda in the Instruments and Equipment Category, see http://electro-music.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=90
Feel free to post A6 releated stuff there, both discussions and patches. Also, I encourage you to particpate in the other forums too. It would be great if this new forum would attract new members here. _________________ --Howard

Good idea!
There are some other synths I use that don't seem to have a good central patch database. Can we do that here? Should I suggest that to people on the mailing lists for those synths?
What are the restrictions about posting patches that we find on the internet, but didn't create ourselves? Is the author's permission needed? What if they were originally posted with no disclaimers, and the author is not known?
What about, for example, the patches that Alesis makes freely available for the A6? |

Lots of questions. We can create forums for other synths, as long as there is interest. Leo contacted me about the Andromeda. If there is an interest and a value in other synths, then sure - let's do it.
A patch is just like any other media. If you post anything on the internet you should have the rights to it, or you should know that its in the public domain. That is not only the law, but it's an essential value to respect the rights of artists. See our conditions of use statement here: http://electro-music.com/catalog/conditions.php _________________ --Howard

Well, that's a difficult one. I'm not a lawyer. I would use your own judegment and if your don't know, then maybe it's safe to assume it is not. It's not enough to assume that if it is available on the internet for download that it's in the public domain. Contact the site's owner if you can't tell. In any case, if you get something from another site that appears to be in the public domain, then be sure to indicate the source of the material. _________________ --Howard

You are right. I edited it by mistake. Funny. When I edit my own posts it shows up with a Last edited message, but when an admin edits a post of someone else, it doesn't show up. _________________ --Howard
