Shane, listening to your mp3 now. Great sounds -- very meditative.

Can you include this in the late-night-ambient drift music in Kansas City? (hint hint Wink )

Thanks Kevin
I can probably bring some things to bow... will just have to check the space available at the time of departure. Very Happy

In addition to using Superballs on mallets, they work well as "bows." Rubbing a Superball across the surface of a gong can excite it in interesting ways. It take some practice to get the pressure and speed right.

Is this night performance taped?
It's impossible to me to stay up that long Smile

Shane, are you using a normal bow or a bass bow?
Special on metal the later will generate much low sounds.

Also see Mikrophonie I of Stockhausen.

This is the only real performance on YouTube, because all the other lack the use of the filters...

I really wish gongs were more widely called tam-tams.

sounds great, shane.

i recommend that you experiment with the software paulstretch (hypermammut.scourceforge/paulstretch/) to alter (slow down) the speed of your recordings.
