Whether via PIC or discrete, would anyone know of a URL hosting a schematic for building a MIDI switcher?

Whilst I could work for now, with a single input / multiple output MIDI thru box, I'd much prefer to have something with multiple inputs and multiple outputs, for switching between all of my MIDI gear.

(Back in the old days before I switched to Reason for 5 years, I had the Korg KMP-68 for about 15 years which worked beautifully. 6 ins / 8 outs, manually switched. Coming back to hardware now ... I have not a single MIDI thru box and would like to build my own. I asked in the PIC forum as I've passed by 2 in my Google searching, that were built around PICs. The functionalities of both of them though, were a little to a lot more complex, than what I need.)

Any help appreciated - including moving this question to a more proper thread.

Smile

I don't think you need a microcontroller for this application. Here is a schematic for a one-to-many MIDI thru:

It wouldn't be to hard to add some extra inputs and uses switches (maybe a lorlin rotary) to get different routings.

If you want to get fancy you could use relays controlled by a microntroller.

Excellent! Thank you! I never even THOUGHT to check his site! I still have a MIDI to CV unit from him to build. Most excellent. Aye - looking at the schematic, it'll be easy enough to make multiple inputs for this one based around a multi-pole rotary as well. No merger / etc. needed for me. Just basic in/out switching and I'm happy. Smile
