This morning left the calibration of the mini-kb. There aren't actually any instructions for this on the web page, you have to look back at the smaller controller web page. Fortunately, the resistor labeling seems to be the same.

To calibrate, measure across R5. Turn trimpot R3 until you hit 0.3958 exactly.

All that's left is a knob for the lid!

Let's melt some glass... I won't be able to see how it turned out until it's out of the kiln in the morning. The first pic shows some of the stringers and latticino cane I'm using to draw on the bottom of the clear gather.

Thanks Embarassed It's been a lifelong evolution of wanting to turn raw materials into something of beauty. It's an impulse that isn't really fulfilled by my day job (writing & coding).

When my wife and I first got married and lived in tiny apartments, I quilted, built model planes, and painted armies of miniatures. When we got our first house, I started woodworking. Which led to an interest in making my own stained glass. Which turned into beadmaking once I got a taste of the torch. That evolved into marbles, pipes, and anything else that can be made of glass.

It helps to have no kids and an understanding spouse Smile

So here's the marble for the lid! I'll get a good shot of the whole fiished piece tomorrow.

whoa, I'm humbled. Excellent craftsmanship! I have a friend whose dad does glass blowing, but to be honest it's mostly kitsch. That right there is awesome! I just live in a small apartment, wish I had a place to build a shop. I have access to a small woodshop at work, but nothing with a kiln or metal working, hah.

Thanks! I'm happy to have this one done. I'm just waiting for the sun to come out so I can get a good pic of the whole thing, then it's on to the Ultimate build!

It was designed in Front Panel Designer and manufactured by Front Panel Express. I haven't posted the FPD file, because it's a half-inch shorter than a regular 5U panel (to fit the box), and I don't want someone making one and then cursing at me Smile

Loydb, I bet if you made cases for modulars that you'd have people here interested in buying them. Beautiful work!

I've thought about that, but a) I don't have a lot of time to do woodwork at the moment (as demonstrated by my taking-forever Ultimate build) and b) Shipping big pieces of nice woodwork is an expensive pain in the ass if you want to have any hope of them arriving alive.

Were I to do something like that, I'd try to find a local outlet like Switched On or someplace to sell them through.
