Looking for advice |
|
|
Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice. I want to get into some synth type music but I'm not sure where to start. As cheesy as this sounds I would like to work on some dance type music. I'm thinking of buying an axiom 61 key midi keyboard. Its cheap and I'm just starting out. So, what is some good software I can use? I heard sonar from cakewalk was good but I'm looking for some opinions and direction. Where do I start? Are there any good "tutorial" websites? |

You might want to look into FL Studio (formerly Fruity Loops). |

I'm seriously thinking of getting Sonar 8.5
I've been forced to shift up, as my Pro Audio 8 won't run properly under Win7.
I'm really happy with Cakewalk stuff, so I'm looking forward to putting Sonar (+ possibly a new Soundcard) into my PC.
Maybe we could keep each other posted on what we go for and how it turns out? _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I have used Sonar for years and like it very much though it has a lot of features suited to pop music (looping etc) that I have never used. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham |

In the context of the modern DAW, looping, cut, paste, etc. etc. are all features I'd expect to see.
What I'm more interested in is whether I can use Soundfonts with it? (I've got a big collection, and some I really love) Can I still open my old PA8 .wrk files if I want to work on an old idea? Does it still support CAL scripts? (I'm big on writing code to create certain effects)
But most of all, I just want a good quality digital audio recording interface with plenty of applied and real time effects options.
Hell,... What I really want is a new Soundcard to replace the one which has gone belly up! _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

That one I can answer, Yes CAL is still alive. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham |
