I got the Interpolating scanner boards, and found some metal canned LM394s,
I thought they would fit right in place of the DIP8 ones (which they will physically, ignoring the bottom 2 unused pins) and audiophools will tell you that metal canned components sound better Wink

but looking at the National data sheet I see some diodes in the canned version which do not appear to be in the DIP version.

bottom of this PDF
http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM194.pdf

Is this just them drawing them in because they have room for them or could it cause a problem in the circuit? I really cant imagine them making the canned version electrically different.

Just being sure before i even start the interpolating scanner, so i will have time to get plastic ones if i need to. (i am still finishing up the living VCO. very very nice!)

Thanks

I can't comment on the data sheet differences but Dave has built Scanner using LM394 cans.
