Calendar Event: October 21, 2010 - October 22, 2010

I have a premiere coming up at the Kennedy Center next week, part of KC's Local Dance Commissioning Project. Right toward the end of 2009, I met up with a video/installation artist - Lorne Covington, http://noirflux.com/ - and through him, a couple of DC-area choreographers who work under the name Dance Box Theater - http://danceboxtheater.org/ . We put in a grant proposal for an interactive multimedia dance work with live video projection and live synthesis.

The end goal is a "movement-responsive environment" in which both visuals and music will be directly influenced by the movement. We didn't quite make it to have that running throughout, but it'll be working in some sections. We have some 2011 performances lined up and we will keep developing the technology. In any case, it's going to be 45-50 minutes of supercollider music at the Kennedy Center, nothing to sneeze at.

It's part of the Millennium Stage series, free performances at 6 PM every day. If you're in the DC area, hope you can make it. If not -- the Kennedy Center webcasts all the performances live and archives the videos also, so you can watch any time.

Hope you can make it, virtually if not in person.
