I bought new NL2X two days ago. I was able to receive patches using Nord Generator but I was not able to upload them to the NL2X. I saw on a small LCD that I am receiving files but all patches were distorted. Maybe some of you know why? After a few hours I have decided to use above program for the mac OSX and everything went ok from the first try Smile, so Yes it is working with our equipment Smile

welcome gplusr and thanks

Strange NordGen couldn't send the SysEx. You used a Windows machine?
There is a bug concerning the MidiIn and MidiOut menu options. When MidiIn is set MidiOut will step to another Midi port.

Hello Smile Yes, I tried with xp sp2 and native instruments audio 8 soundcard. I used this card also on mac. While I was sending sysex to nord I could see that nord is receiving it but all knobs/setting were in the same position. I tried all setting with midi channels on xp but with no luck.

Hi,

Some questions…
How did you detect there was Midi send to the synth?
Which SysEx files were used?
Any routing (LEDs on the Panel) changed?
Was the sound changed in any way?
What was distorted?

Knobs don’t change when uploading a new Program into the synth, only the LEDs.

I could see on the LED for example A.Pr.
I used SysEx file from there http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/020_NordLead2/
Nothing change on the panel and as you described the sound was changed but this sound does not sound as a good patch/new instrument. I will make some movie when I find some free to time to show you how I did it.
I could also notice that the led didnt change, they were in exacly the same position as before so maybe not all data was transfered? Is it possible? Maye I should change the speed somewhere like in COM ports. It is not a big problem for me because it is working on Mac but maybe someone know the solution.

Can you point out in the video which LED you mean? There is some confusion about this…

Most of this data is set on MidiGlobal channel 16, but this will not result in distortion…

If the LEDs don’t change there was no upload

That’s what I want to find out Smile

Below you will find the link to the youtube.

1. I choose RESO SWEEP 004.syx
2. I drag the file to the Nord Generator
3. I choose SysEX -> Send

On the Nord

1. I could see that DISPLAY shows A.PR1 for one second.
2. I can hear that the Sound change
3. I dont see that any of the LED changed
4. The sound is not what it meant to be even when I store it in to the memory of Nord.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8dCSORvcTI

When I do this on mac, everything works fine.

What I think doesn't look right is the LED of the Pulse wave form doesn't change. It should have gone to Saw... Shocked
But surely I hear the Reso Sweep.
The indication [A.pr1] could be a feature of the NL2X, because I only own a NR original and a NL2. So this feature is new to me. (A third Lead is probably an overkill in my studio Smile)

Gladly you can work with the synth, but it's still puzzling you and me.
In two weeks I'll meet up with Clavia and will ask them.

Can you upload the SysEx from the synth?
Yes, you can...

Can you do the following:
1. Send by Windows into the synth and downloaded from the synth.
2. Send by Mac into the synth and downloaded from the synth.

I weant to make a read out of the SysEx. There has to be something changed in the data...

Wout

PS no hurry Smile

Here are some results…

Two read outs of your files. As you can see the end doesn’t contain any data. Compared with the last read out (NordGen received) the blue colored data is the routing, which means the buttons and LED’s.

SysEx down loaded from the internet or already on my computer are exactly the same.
I also think the Synth is alright. For some reason the Windows machine doesn’t take the last line of the SysEx: the routing. Some Midi cables? Too much speed? Hard to tell from here…
