The views and analysis Simone Dinnerstein expresses in this interview are insightful and worthwhile. They could benefit composers of most any style who want to create something of value.

Unfortunately I found her performance a bit lacking, especially in the treatment of the ornaments. See (hear) “Ich Ruf Zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ” on found this page.

thanks for this bachus,

every since i heard the adaptation of the above mentioned chorale prelude in tarkovsky's movie solaris i am reminded that bach had to endure the death of his first wife and 13 children. i experience his music as being full of grief as well as joy. i guess this is what makes it relevant to me and beautiful.

i find that mrs dinnerstein's interpretation - while being thoughtful and sensitive - lacks the grief, frustration, anger and hope i feel when listening to the one tarkovsky used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlD-9uwHA40&feature=related

best regards

eike
