Hi!
I just finished building my first circuit, the 808 kick drum stripboard circuit from this forum and it seems to work. My problem is, that I need a circuit that generates a trigger signal when I press a button, so I can trigger it manually.
Ken Stone's gate to trigger circuit ( http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs24_gatetotrigger.html ) seems to work for generating a usable trigger signal but I don't know how I can get this to work with a trigger button, that generates the gate signal that circuit can convert.
I assume I'm not the first one that needs a manually trigger generator and searched the forum, but couldn't find ( or better identify) something suitable.
Can someone please hint me in the right direction?
I hope this is not a banal question, but I'm pretty new to electronics.

If I connect +15V (or +5V) to a button, would this (when pressing the button and closing the circuit) be a gate signal?

I know this is an old post I am responding to and you probably allready have the answer you wanted but, a gate would be a signal going from 0V or ground to +5V. So yes you can generate a gate signal with a switch connected to +5V.You wil probably need a 100k or higher resistor to ground on the side of the switch that connects to your circuit for things to work properly. As for a trig. circuit have you tried the trigger generator network on " ericarcher.net " ? You could attach a switch to it from +5V to trigger your circuit.
