was thinking about picking up a pocket oscilloscope like this one. wondered if anyone had any experience using one an if they would recommend it. i currently live in a super tiny guest house and room is an issue, otherwise i'd probably get a regular one off ebay.

Junky, slow, and unreliable is what I've heard of these scopes. And the batteries on them die fast.

If you're looking for inexpensive and useful, get a used Velleman scope on eBay. I picked up an HPS-10 for $60 and it works as well as any bench scope, minus the ability to have multiple probes.

My wife give me one for my past birthday, I'm happy with it.
The original firmware is extremely slow and buggy, I updated to firmware 3.62 by BenF and the performance is much better, plus have some more tools.
Also the calibration with the original firmware wasn't good, with the 3.62 the calibration is much better plus you can calibrate it by yourself.
Is not comparable to a big oscilloscope, but is cheap and portable. It have it's limitations but for SDIY I think is OK.
