I have seen from this forum that a number of members are very happy with the behringer bcr2000 midi controller in conjunction with the G2 engine, but I have a question about it's ease of use for bank/program change on the G2. Is this easy to do with a rotary controller? - I see no other option on the bcr2000. And is the current program number fed back from the G2 to the bcr2000 in real time so you can see where you currently are as you move up or down?

welcome windchill.

I don't have the Behringer BCR2000 so I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone will chime in.

I do have a BCR2000 but a rotary controller does not seem well suited to send program changes unless you assign them to its push buttons (but, of course, you only have a limited amount of them anyway) so I would not count on it for that purpose Very Happy

A rotary controller is much better when there is a alphanumeric indicator associated with it.

any forum members using the Engine in a live situation? i'm guessing you'd need to send program change messages from a sequencer at the start of your songs? any way to scroll through patches away from the computer?

as for the BCR-2000 - haven't picked one up yet, have the G2 keys but can find some other great uses for it i'm sure. would it be possible to set up a preset (maybe the last one) on the BCR that uses the 16 buttons to switch between required patches/performances, then switching to the one that controls that patch/performance? i'm not sure how flexible the set-up is, maybe it's possible for example to configure it to have one button call up bank1:#30 and assign one knob to scroll between patches 30-50 or something like that so that the resolution is smaller? not sure if this can be done in reality or if it'd be worth the time. haven't looked more into the G2's midi specs to see if it can be done on it's end either. just a thought...

I have used my engine on a few live gigs. I use an FCB1010 (also Behringer) to send prog changes. No computers on stage for me.

so i'm thinking the same midi cc's you send can be programmed the same way on the BCR-2000? if you had all your patches/performances organized sequentially in one bank, could you program one button in the BCR set-up to switch to the next G2 patch which contains a midi control module which then quickly switches the BCR to the appropriate set-up?
