I had not checked into my myspace page for a while. But I found to my dismay that a search on Tantroniq would result in my profile being seen and music that is NOT MINE AT ALL being played as a preview.

I then logged in and none of my real tracks were playable anymore (if one attempted to play them then they simply didnt work at all).

I took down all of my tracks and now that mystery music is not playing.

I cant STAND myspace anymore, but its nice to have a page there in case anyone cares (they dont appear to eventhough they visit by the droves). So I consider it kind of necessary...but the weirdness is getting a bit much, what with the format changes and no net improvement.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I dont think it got hacked, but I changed the password just in case.

I removed my myspace account a couple of years ago and have not missed it a bit.

Basically, I don't like the Myspace user experience. To me, the look of the site is tacky.

My own personal website gets more hits than my Myspace page ever did -- and visitors are not subjected to slow response and tacky advertisements.

I've read recently that Myspace is expected to go the way of the digital Dodo.

Yeah,it's pretty lame. One possible source of your problem could be a "profile conversion" that they forced upon everyone a while back.(can't remember how long ago) I remember embedded Youtube videos showing only part of the screen. The somebody else's music thing is pretty weird though.
They also made it so friend requests and comments are automatically granted even though you may have had it set so you had to approve them.A pal of mine suspects that they are semi randomly "friending" profiles without peoples knowledge or approval just to make it look like people are actually using Myspace.I see more activity than ever and almost everyone is saying "we rarely check in here anymore, come look us up on Facebook"
Laughing
Ya gotta figure it'd get creepy with Rupert Murdoch/Newscorp owning it now.

I wouldn't count on it getting any better. They'll probably only "improve: it in terms of generating revenue for them.My guess is it'll join Friendster soon.
A Facebook page coupled with a Soundcloud player is much better IMO.

i've noticed lately that refreshing the Myspace page counts as 2 new views instead of 1.
Anyone else see this on their accounts?

Maybe its an effort to make Myspace seem more popular than it is, to counteract the loss in traffic. If so..shady.
