Hello all of you lucky G2 users !

Is there any issue with the Modular G2 Editor V1.62 with Mac OS Lion, mounted on the i5 or i7 chips (new macbook air) ?

And with Windows 7 64 bits (i3 chip) ?

In fact, i would like to run the editor on two machines : a macbook air (new model) AND an OpenLabs DBeat upgrade to i3, Win7 64 bits.

Thanks a lot for your advice !

I have read somewhere else that the editor does not run with Mac OSX Lion.

These issues are regarding the G1 editor. Question is if the same issues apply to the G2 editor?

My understanding is that OS 1.62 was Universal Binary, so hopefully it should work on Lion. However, this is merely speculation.
Some software e.g. Tassman, has problems running standalone on Lion.

I too am interested in the answer to this question. Is this the end of the road for the G2 on Mac? Is there a likelihood of seeing an open source editor like Nomad for the G2? Im 100% certain we will not be seeing any more updates from Clavia, judging from their past record of support for the NMG1 and very slow updates for the G2.

The answer to this question may lead to sell my G2. Perhaps get an Origin, or move to Sonic Core.

There´s reports on Gearslutz from a few guys who opened the 1.62 editor on Lion but not from anyone who tested if the G2 actually connects with the software. Still hoping someone can say whether there's any likelihood of ever seeing an open source editor for the G2.

I don't see any chance for an open source editor. Coming from the embedded Linux community (some of us crazy folks are bound to port Linux to virtually everything, including undocumented windows phones etc.), I know a bit about the complexities of that stuff.

It would take a bunch of man-years to reverse engineer the USB communication, the DSP compiler, and the internal data structures. Nothing is impossible, but without any documentation I'm afraid it would never be completed and given the questionable legality, who would be able to coordinate and carry out such a major effort?

UPDATE: Followups to http://electro-music.com/forum/post-336072.html please.
