There seem to be a few 'emulations' of classic synths available for android, that were previously available on Linux. I have the idea those are best on tabs, but I didnt try em out because I don't have a credit card, and my HTC Hero is a bit old anyway.
The synths aren't polyphonic, but duophonic. That will change in the future, the developer says on his twitter page.

I don't have direct links to the market, but you can find em under those names:
BME Synthesizer - after the BME 700
Mini Synthesizer - guess yourself what synth this is meant to be
    Augur-52 Synthesizer
uSonic V Synth - after the muSonic 5
    Axxe Synthesizer
    Bristol Polysynth
    Juniper Polysynth
    OBx Synthesizer
    Augur-1 Synth

If you try em out, please comment here! Cool

Wmonk:

I take it you're referring to Bristol? I use the linux versions pretty extensively in my stuff, particularly their Mini-Moog and Prophet emulations. The Android versions, I've tried them... they sound great, and they're a fun toy, but the latency is a killer. But that's a major Android audio issue in general, and not at all Bristol's fault.

And I've found Nick, their developer, to be very helpful and receptive to input...

Cheers,

Was going to have a go but don't really want to have to buy something to try it out. Especially when it might be laggy. Lite versions would be useful.
