Subject description: Playing different scales on the G2

Hi,
I've searched the forum for this, but couldn't find it.
I've read about scala, but it seems quite a hassle to install on a mac.
Does anyone have scales available ? Or is it not possible to load the G2 with different scales ?

Depends a bit on what scales you want ... I've done stuff with Equally Tempered (ET) scales in the past ... think that was on the Classic still ...

For the G2 you could use the SeqCtr mudule as a lookup table for pitch conversions .. when there is 16 or less notes in a repetition (an octave, or any other interval you'd want). You'll probably need one for coarse and one for fine tuning then, and some modulo trickery of course.

ET scales are easier, this can be done with mixers.

Special case of Pythagorean probably best with partial quantizer.

Edit : the scala stuff is here.

Edit : for lookup table stuff see this.

Indeed, some laudable work was done on a tool that can create a G2 patch based on a Scala .scl. However, I don't think support for Scala .kbm (the keyboard mapping) files was added. I wanted to try to work on that and learn Python in the process, but never found the time.
