I got you. So it would work on the legacy software- but probably not on the iPad?

Good point. Probably not.. I haven´t really checked the ESP section in the ims20. Most likely it doesn´t have a sensible live input for the ESP.

Well they seem to have fallen in love with iOS.
There are also two new Monotrons on their way.
Things are looking groovy for Korg right now Smile

We'll see!

Uh.. I think you said here somewhere that you have a pretty limited space in your project studio. The Orbit enabled Wurlitzer organ is a mighty tool real estate speaking. This is not your average 1U module.. more like the USS Texas (BB-35).

AFAICR the Orbit synth ( which is a very simple monophonic thing ) was the 3 third manual in several Wurlitzer models .. at least 6 models? It was first issued in 1971 and was not really exciting even back then. The rest of the instrument is a solid state organ.. pretty middle of the road back in 1971.. there were some variations across he models as some came at some stage with a built in spring reverb and a built in Leslie of sorts. There were at least two majestic all blinged up models including the Orbit 3, the Leslie and the reverb and something else I cannot quite remember.. AND a cassette recorder..

Today this generation of organs is outdated, dull and at times somewhat insulting. I think they are collectable, but you would need a place to store and display it. A collection of one nasty early 70s organ won´t cut it either. You would want to keep a low profile until you have at least 60 different models from various manufacturers. Most people don´t care so most of these end as landfill even in 100% mint condition.

My advice, you shouldn´t care either. This is not for you. Ignore my previous "Grab it". These Wurlitzers aren´t something you grab and run... they are huge and intense bastards and they love to fall apart while being carried.

I`m a big fan of the Philips Philicorda range.

I think some of the models were sold as Penncrest organs in the US. -Sold by J.C.Penney.

hehe, right, I dunno what has ridden me to even consider to get it. But then again there is this niche with two closets facing each other. If I only could use one for studio space.. hmmm... on the other hand I could take the whole thing apart and put the synth in it's own case, and have a seperate rhythm box too.

What am I saying.. it wouldn't evein fit in my car, unless I can take it apart.

Qucik question: I have this Midiman Portman 2x4 thing and I want to use it with my linux based studio pc. I'd like to use the serial port for this, so that I can use all four of the midi thru/outs. After researching around I'm under the impression that It might be difficult to make it work via serial port. What do you guys think, will it work on my linux box with pulse/alsa and jack? Aand what would I have to do to make it work?
