Just finished my custom joystick controller for my G2 and I'm having such a blast I had to share it with you guys! It's not perfect ... I have new knobs on order and the paint doesn't exactly match the G2 but otherwise I couldn't be happier. I'll post a video soon showing it in action (I'm particularly happy with the little LED sequencer circuit I stuck in it because I have next to zero engineering skills).
... and yes there may be some kind of logo blurred out in the top left corner Wink

looks cool Grimley, can you assign all the same parameters of the g2 to it as the knobs of the g2 keys? I'd buy 1, like the blur Wink

Way cool. I'd love to hear it in action, as well see the insides and hear about what is inside too.

I updated the image above because I just received the new knobs which I quite like! No video yet but I'll try and put something together this weekend.
I used the following to hobble this together:

Hammond sloped aluminum case:
http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg16.htm#10degree

Doepfer Pocket Electronic:
http://www.doepfer.de

Doepfer joysticks:
http://www.doepfer.de

Midifighter arcade buttons:
http://www.djtechtools.com/store/all-products/arcade-buttons.html

The LED "chaser" uses a 555 timer and 4017 decade counter based on this circuit:
http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_6/chpt_7/6.html
The status signal from the doepfer is fed into the +5v power rail of that circuit.

I had Front Panel Express here in Seattle cut the holes and do the engraving (although I screwed up and added a few extra holes!):
http://www.frontpanelexpress.com/index.html?gclid=CLOnjufm06wCFUwaQgodmHatrQ

I went through half a dozen sets of knobs before finding ones that were both pleasing to the eye and comfortable to use. Originally I had some very cool looking black aluminum ones but they just didn't feel "good"! I settled on these "soft touch" ones:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tri-Colour-Mixer-Pot-Potentiometer-Knob-Black-Green-Grey-Blue-Red-Amp-6mm-Rean-/330639892051?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item7dbd5d9102#ht_722wt_912

Inside is a big mess of cables because I was too lazy to trim to length and tie them up. There is also a prototype breadboard glued in there with the LED chaser circuit Smile But it works!!

I used the doepfer because originally I wanted to hook this up directly to the G2 and I couldn't find another board with midi ports (instead of USB midi). There are other options now though that include USB and midi so that would probably be a better way to go (Livid brain for instance).

OK, I'll go work on that video now ...

This is truly beautiful.

I really love the paint job!

I came across this post during research on the Livid Brain, which currently makes controllers like this possible for mere mortals like myself.

Thanks guys! Resurrecting this thread filled me with guilt though as I remembered that I promised a video! Not sure what I would put in a video ... I think I just wanted to show off the pretty lights Smile
Speaking of lights ... I'd love to replace the buttons in my controller with these:
