Did you miss out on the latest news? We have this new electro-music.com freezer we are filling up with spare organs. It´s the new community organ pool. "An organ (or synth ) for an organ"

Howard is busy running futures and derivatives off the pool now. No greek bonds here!

I'll donate my tubes. I'm not using 'em anyway.

Funnily enough, it doesn't really bother me during the day (or evening for that matter). I can hear it now if I think about it, but it doesn't really bother me. Thanks for the concern anyway. That tinnitus hearing aid sounds like a good thing to remember! Smile

...now where did those nuts go.....? Shocked

I used to love Macs, in the 90's. I thought it was the way to go for electronic music composition, if a computer is called for. I bought one for myself while a student at university, and it was fun for a few years. Then I started veering away from Macs, got caught up in other stuff, and eventually landed in Linux-Land.

These days, when I want a computer-type device, I just want the hardware. Stuff everyone and their "operating systems" - if I can't choose what OS I want, it's not for me. That rules out much of the Apple stuff (Linux can be installed on Macs, but I haven't looked into hacking iStuff for that. I'm guessing someone's done it, somewhere, at least).

I just don't like being told how to run the hardware I bought. Like someone said here, Apple makes "products", not computers, and I'm just not interested in "products" with a purpose and functionality dictated by a single entity. I feel in some ways it's a ripoff.

I totally grok that most people aren't hackers, but wouldn't it be a fun world if they were? Razz

Maybe if you take your ginko, you can remember where you left your hearing aids and be able to listen for your nuts? Razz

Wow, I sure inspired an entertaining thread! Smile

My original complaint that inspired this whole thing is about app settings not being preserved when moving from one iOS device to another. I am about to get Animoog for my iPhone since the iPhone version is now on sale for 99 cents. I am resigned to the fact than any Animoog patches I create on my iPhone will NOT be transferred to my iPad (yes I have the iPad version of Animoog) when I get an iPad. In my humble opinion, this frikkin sucks, but sometimes life is just unfair.

Thanks for the entertaining read, everyone!

Random thoughts:

I've had an iPhone for about 2 years now. Lack of Flash not a problem for me.

Lemur for IOS sounds cool, Disappointed that nobody has reported anything about actually using it on the Lemur thread. I understand it is a controller-only app (no synths), but would it be possible to run a synth onboard the iPad at the same time, for Lemur patch testing purposes, or would that be too much to ask of the iPad's processor?

I bet Lemur will have the same problem when the iPad 3 comes out. Somebody running Lemur on iPad 1 will - for whatever reason - get an iPad3, then realize too late he/she can't copy his/her elaborate Lemur patches over. Ooops.... thanks Apple!!!

Actuallly IOS does have support for sync of settings and documents. It is just a matter of implementing this in the apps. And some apps do use iTunes for transferring presets, settings and documents.

...as for the Lemur app, give it a little time, and I'm sure people will start picking it up and reporting back.

Initial reactions in Symbolic Sound's forum have been good. My worries about wifi connectivity seems to be unwarranted too.

Gov: I just got my iPad (and Lemur) last week so it'll be a bit before I get my mind wrapped around all of this, but I'll be sure to give a detailed report.Be patient,I'm a little slow in these matters.

I have Lemur and so far, so good. It appears to be very solid and professional. Haven't tried playing an on-board synth with the Lemur, but I think it should be possible. Don't worry about losing Lemur patches, they call 'em templates, when you move from one iPad to another. The patches are created on and editor on the Mac/PC.
