Subject description: a project to raise some relief for haibles family

As you all might already know, Jürgen has been taken from us. Among other relatives he leaves two children behind, who will miss their father.

Jürgen once made a hand drawn schematic of a Wasp VCF clone. I later made a singlesided layout for press'n'peel blue - being one of my earliest layouts, it is not a nice layout. but ut has been built quite often, i think.

JH's clone is quite unique, i believe. This is what Jürgen had to say about it:
Jürgen Haible wrote:
The whole combination of the separate parts has some unusual aspects that one might consider suboptimal design, but which I have chosen deliberately to have something different from my other modules:
No expo converter for the filter. Manual Cutoff is set by a logarithmic potentiometer, and the envelope is added to this exponential CV. This results in a certain interaction of Manual Cutoff and Envelope Depth settings.
The Distortion is located after the filter. Usually, you create rich harmonics with an overdrive, and then you filter these harmonics with a VCF, a phaser, or something similar. But it is also very interesting to have a VCF before a distortion unit, to pre-shape the waveform that feeds the distortion in a dynamic way. The avoid the very sharp sound of a pure distortion unit, a fixed filter ("speaker simulator") is hard-wired after the overdrive section.
The state variable filter normally doesn't self oscillate. However, if you plug in a long cable at it's output, it will. This is because the CMOS buffers have a rather large output impedance which will form an extra filter pole together with the cable's capacitance. This could easily be cured with an extra buffer stage, but I decided not to do it in my unit.

My idea was to do a limited run of professional manufactured PCB's for his circuit, using LM13700 OTA's. He never did. I would spend 5.-EUR/PCB to his family.
The price for this PCB would depend on the number of pre-orders we get. The expenses must be covered + 5.-/EUR relief donation.

What do you think?
(If anybody had objections about this project, speak out).

UPDATE (6 DEC 11): the layout is almost done, however, keep in mind that i still have to order and build a prototype. and then we will have to wait and see when and what the family decides to do.

I'd be in for 1 or 2, depending on the cost. I don't have any wasp's in my nest yet.

I am up for a couple.

Edited:
Have read up on the in memoriam thread on this forum, we have been in contact with his family and they welcome the support. I will definitely be up for several boards.

But have you/we been in contact with his family? Are they open to this sort of thing (since they were divorced or at least living separated)?

This is in the works, and it will take it's time.

I am asking for interest only, yet.

Put me down for two as well. And count me in for some donation+ too. It's nice to know that this will benefit his family... he left us all way too soon.
