Firewire Audiophile + G2

Anyone on this list use M-Audio's firewire audiophile with their G2? I've got a midi question...

Ahem..okay...I'm using my G2 as a MIDI controller for Ableton Live, among other things. If I use the MIDI automate module in the patch I have built to control things in Live, and turn the knob on the G2 fast, the control in Live moves only a little. Move it more slowly and all is well. This problem only occurs with the automate module.
Settings - Echo/ OFF, G2 Setup MIDI Cntrl Send & Recv/ ON
I've got a Doepfer Pocket Dial and it works perfectly in Live, so it's something to do with the G2/Live/Firewire AP/Automate module setup.
I've got the MIDI in/out from the G2 going into the audiophile, which is connected to the laptop via firewire obviously.
Any thoughts?
It would appear that the feedback from Live to the G2 is delayed quite a lot. eg Knob sends MIDI 127,126,125.......110 then gets feedback that Live has now repositioned to 125 so the G2 re-adopts 125 and starts again from there.

Rather a bullshit answer, I know. Maybe someone with a G2 wants to chip in? Wink
